Ban on TPO in cosmetics
Important Information Regarding the Ban on TPO
Dear customers,
We would like to inform you about an important legislative change concerning cosmetic products containing the substance TPO (Trimethylbenzoyl Diphenylphosphine Oxide)*. This substance has been classified as prohibited under European Regulation (EU) 2025/877, which amends Annex II of Regulation (EC) No. 1223/2009. As of September 1, 2025, products containing TPO may no longer be marketed or used in professional practice.
It is important to note that the ban on TPO is not due to proven harm to human health. The European Union has chosen to act based on the so-called precautionary principle – meaning even without direct evidence of negative effects on human health. The goal is to minimize potential long-term risks. For reference, TPO remains permitted in certain medical devices, such as dental fillings, where its use is professionally assessed and strictly regulated.
What We’ve Done to Safely Replace TPO
For several months, we have been actively working on reformulating our products, even though the legislative change had not yet been decided at the time. We responded solely to informal signals from professional discussions, as no official public announcement was made before May 12, 2025.
Replacing TPO in our products is part of a long-term safety strategy, and approximately 80% of our product range has already been completely TPO-free in recent months.
Our product formulas have undergone intensive modifications, testing, and approvals. As of August 1, 2025, our e-shop will exclusively offer products without TPO.
This process was swift but uncompromising in quality. Most products already have full-fledged replacements that our customers have been using actively for several months. Only a negligible number of products currently lack an alternative – but even these are already in the approval phase.
We understand that this change is happening quickly and may require you to update part of your inventory, which can be both logistically and financially demanding. That’s why we’ve decided to offer a practical and fair form of support to help you through this transitional period.
Discount as Support During the Transition
To customers who have purchased products containing TPO from us since June 1, 2025, we offer a 30% discount on the entire range of UV gels and gel polishes, valid until August 31, 2025 (excluding promotional products included in the Summer Sale at the time of the new purchase).
We don’t want to burden you with tracking down all affected products – simply send a photo of the bottom label of at least one product containing TPO purchased during the specified period, along with your order number, to info@aglia.eu. Based on this information, we will send you a unique discount code.
We are currently receiving inquiries requesting a list of products that do or do not contain TPO, or which previously did, and which of your past purchases are affected. Unfortunately, we cannot provide this information precisely, as the reformulation occurred gradually over several months. The key is always the ingredient list on the bottom label of your product. Please note that as of August 1, 2025, none of our products contain TPO!
Thank You for Your Trust
We believe this form of support will help you navigate the legislative change with minimal impact. We are here for you as a professional and reliable partner who acts with your needs in mind.
Thank you for your trust and cooperation. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
With love ❤️ AGLIA

Text variants of the banned TPO ingredient: TPO / Diphenyl(2,4,6-trimethylbenzoyl)phosphine oxide / Trimethylbenzoyl Diphenylphosphine Oxide / Diphenyl(2,4,6-trimethylbenzoyl)phosphinoxyd (regardless of capitalization or spacing)
Note: In some products, specifically Polymaster UV gels, you may find Ethylphenyl(2,4,6-trimethylbenzoyl)phosphinate in the ingredient list, also known as TPO-L. This is a derivative of the original TPO and is not explicitly banned like TPO. It is also commonly labeled as Ethyl (2,4,6-trimethylbenzoyl) phenylphosphinate.
