Ban on CI 77820

Important Notice for Nail Salons: Discontinuation of Sales and Use of Selected Platinum Line Products from 1 May 2026

In connection with new EU legislation concerning certain cosmetic ingredients, we would like to inform you about a change that will affect a limited number of our nail modelling products from 1 May 2026.

What changes on 1 May 2026

Under current EU regulations, nail cosmetics containing the colourant CI 77820 (silver):

  • may no longer be placed on the market from 1/5/2026,
  • may no longer be used during professional nail salon services.
This approach is comparable to the scenario known from the TPO ban – it concerns not only sales restrictions but also a prohibition on professional use.

Why the approach is similar to the TPO ban

Although it is a different substance, the regulatory outcome is the same:

  • from the given date, the products are considered unsuitable for professional use,
  • they must not be applied on clients in salon services.
Therefore, we recommend that salons:

  • stop using these products after 30 April 2026,
  • plan their removal from your professional portfolio.

Which products are affected

This change applies exclusively to the products in the popular Platinum range:

20380 – STAR Platinum
20410 – GIN FIZZ Platinum
20428 – DAIQUIRI Platinum
21230 – PALOMA Platinum
21810 – WOO WOO Platinum
23825 – FELICITY Platinum
24495 – BROCADE Platinum
26780 – DEJAVU Platinum
27395 – EMERALD Platinum
27490 – ORIENT Platinum

No other products outside this line are affected.

What this means for salon practice

Until 30 April 2026:
  • you may continue using these products normally,
  • they may be used in all services.
From 1 May 2026:
  • do not use these products on clients anymore,
  • we recommend replacing them with suitable alternatives.

What this change does NOT mean

  • It is not a blanket ban on silver in cosmetics.
  • It does not affect the entire brand or all product lines.
  • It is not a sudden safety issue, but a regulatory adjustment.

Summary

  • From 1 May 2026, selected Platinum line products may no longer be sold or used.
  • The procedure is comparable to the TPO ban.
  • Only the listed products are affected.
  • Until then, they can be used normally and gradually replaced.
If you need recommendations for suitable alternatives or have any questions regarding this change, we are fully at your disposal.
