Tips and advice

How to strengthen natural nails?

Strengthening natural nails with gel polish bases is very popular – and above all practical. Nails gain strength, durability and a naturally well-groomed look that can last for several weeks without lifting. This method of strengthening is suitable not only for hands, but also for feet.
You can find a detailed step-by-step guide HERE.

How to achieve the most realistic gel colours on a mobile phone?

The shade of a gel cannot be displayed completely objectively in product photos so that it appears identical to the real colour on every device. Colour display varies depending on the type of screen, its settings and the surrounding lighting conditions.
To see the colour as close as possible to the real shade, we recommend setting your phone’s display brightness to maximum and turning off automatic colour adjustment features that adapt to ambient light, as these cause the greatest colour deviations.
On iPhones, this is the True Tone feature, while on Samsung devices it is, for example, Adaptive Color Tone.
Even with the correct settings, it is important to keep in mind that colour display may still vary slightly from the real shade depending on the specific device used.

Why does my gel polish or ONE STEP gel polish lift around the cuticles?

The most common reason for lifting around the cuticles is insufficient nail preparation or product touching the cuticle. It is essential to gently roughen the nail with a 180-grit file, thoroughly remove dust, use NAIL PREP and, if necessary, ULTRABOND PRIMER. The product must never touch the cuticle – even minimal contact can cause lifting.

How to properly prepare the natural nail for long-lasting manicure?

Proper nail preparation includes disinfecting the hands, gently roughening the nail surface with a 180-grit file, pushing back and optionally removing the cuticles, removing dust, and degreasing the nail using CLEANSER and NAIL PREP. Careful preparation is the key to long-lasting wear without lifting.

Do I need to use a primer with gel polishes and ONE STEP gel polishes?

Using a primer is not always necessary, but it is highly recommended for problematic, soft, or heavily stressed nails. A primer improves adhesion to the natural nail and helps prevent lifting. In professional salon practice, ULTRABOND PRIMER is often used to ensure more reliable results and longer-lasting manicures.

Is one coat enough, or is it better to apply two?

Most gel polishes and One Step gel polishes are applied in one or two thin coats. One coat may be sufficient for highly pigmented shades, but two thin coats usually provide more even coverage, a better appearance, and longer wear than one thick layer.

How long should gel polish be cured in the lamp?

Curing time depends on the product and the type of lamp used. Generally, gel polishes cure for about 60 seconds in a LED lamp and around 120 seconds in a UV lamp. Insufficient curing may result in reduced durability, a soft surface, or lifting.

Do I need a TOP COAT if the gel polish is no wipe?

With no-wipe gel polishes, applying a top coat is not mandatory. However, if you want to extend wear time, increase resistance, or achieve higher shine, using a top coat is recommended. This step is commonly used in professional salon practice.

How to prevent gel polish from flooding the cuticles?

The key is working with a small amount of product and applying thin layers. Apply the gel polish with a slight gap from the cuticle and gently push it toward it. For precise application, using a detail brush is recommended, allowing you to refine the edges without flooding.

Is the procedure the same for hands and feet?

The basic procedure is very similar; the main difference lies in the thickness of the material and the application technique. On feet, thinner layers are used with an emphasis on natural appearance and comfort. Proper nail preparation is just as important as it is for hands.

Why does gel or UV gel flood into the cuticle area?

Gel flooding into the cuticle area is usually caused by a combination of material consistency and application technique. If the gel does not provide sufficient control during application, it may slowly spread, especially due to hand warmth or slower working speed.
Another common reason is applying too much product at once or insufficient brush control. Proper nail preparation is also essential – dust residue, oil, or moisture can significantly affect how the gel behaves.
To reduce flooding, it is recommended to work in thin layers, choose a gel with better control, and pay close attention to the cuticle area and sidewalls.

Are gel polish application procedures suitable for beginners?

Yes. Gel polish application procedures are based on standard salon practice but are designed to be clear and easy to follow even for beginners. The step-by-step approach helps minimize mistakes and allows you to achieve professional-looking results at home.

What is the C-curve of nails and why is it so important?

The C-curve is the natural curvature of the nail when viewed from the front and determines its strength and durability. A properly created C-curve helps distribute pressure evenly across the nail, significantly reducing the risk of cracking, breaking, or lifting.
When working with builder or strengthening gels, a correct C-curve is essential for long-lasting results and a natural-looking finish.

What is the apex on nails and where should it be correctly placed?

The apex is the highest point of the nail structure and is typically located in the first third of the nail starting from the cuticle. Its role is to ensure proper nail balance and provide strength.
A correctly positioned apex helps prevent nail breakage, improves resistance to everyday stress, and ensures a balanced and aesthetically pleasing shape. When strengthening or building nails with builder gels, the apex is a key element of professional nail work.

What are nail growth points and why are they important?

Nail growth points are the areas located on the sides of the nail near the cuticle, where the nail naturally grows from the nail bed. These areas are the most sensitive and highly stressed, which is why lifting or material cracking often occurs there.
When strengthening or building nails, it is important to apply the gel in a thin layer around the growth points and avoid contact with the cuticle and sidewalls. Proper work in this area significantly improves adhesion and overall manicure durability.

What is the difference between color gel polish, ONE STEP gel polish and color gel?

Color gel polish is applied in several steps – a base coat, a color layer and a top coat. It is designed for gel polish manicures on strengthened natural nails or on sculpted nails and offers a wide range of shades with long-lasting wear.
One Step gel polish combines multiple steps into a single product. It is applied directly to the prepared nail and allows for a quick manicure without the need for a separate base and top coat. It is ideal for strengthened natural nails and is popular both in salons and for home use.
Color gel usually has a thicker consistency than gel polishes, comes in a jar and is applied with a separate brush. It is mainly used as a color layer on strengthened or sculpted nails. In terms of durability, it is comparable to color gel polishes and is especially valued for its pigmentation and greater control during application.

What does it mean when a gel is thixotropic?

A thixotropic gel is a UV gel that changes its viscosity in response to movement. When working with a brush or tool, the gel becomes more fluid and easy to shape.
This property allows for very precise and controlled application during nail strengthening and sculpting, while reducing the risk of unwanted flooding before curing in a UV/LED lamp.

What is the difference between a thixotropic gel and a classic UV gel?

The key difference lies in how the gel reacts to movement during application.
A classic UV gel maintains a constant consistency throughout the application process and does not respond to brush movement.
A thixotropic gel, on the other hand, reacts to mechanical movement, providing greater control over the material and a more comfortable working experience during nail strengthening and sculpting. The gel maintains its shape until curing in a UV/LED lamp.

What does it mean when a UV gel is NO FILE / NO FILING?

The term NO FILE / NO FILING UV gel means that the gel is designed so that no filing is required after proper application. During application, the material spreads evenly, allowing you to achieve a smooth surface and correct shape without additional filing.
NO FILE gels have properties that make material control easier during application. This saves time, reduces the risk of mistakes, and makes them popular both in professional salons and for home use.

What does it mean when a gel is HEMA FREE or NO HEMA?

The terms HEMA FREE or NO HEMA indicate that the gel does not contain HEMA (Hydroxyethyl Methacrylate), which is a commonly used acrylate in nail products. This substance may increase the risk of irritation or allergic reactions, especially in sensitive individuals or with prolonged skin contact.
HEMA FREE products are therefore often perceived as a gentler alternative. However, it is important to note that HEMA FREE products are not automatically completely hypoallergenic, as other ingredients may still cause reactions in sensitive users.
Safe use always depends on correct application, avoiding contact with the skin and thorough curing in the lamp.
