Application of Color Gel Polish on Reinforced Natural Nails – Salon Technique Step by Step
How to correctly apply color gel polish on reinforced natural nails so that the manicure looks flawless and lasts for several weeks without lifting?
This proven salon technique, used by professional nail technicians, is designed to be clear and accessible for home use as well. Thanks to the detailed step-by-step instructions, you can achieve excellent adhesion, long-lasting results, and a gel polish manicure without lifting on reinforced natural nails.
1. Disinfect your hands using SKIN DISINFECTANT. From this point on, avoid touching the nails with your hands and work only with tools.
2. Lightly roughen the nail surface with a FILE of 180 grit, working in one direction only – either from right to left or vice versa. Never use a grit coarser than 180 on natural nails.
3. Using the same 180 grit file, shape the free edge of the nail to the desired form.
4. Gently push back the cuticles using an ORANGE WOOD STICK or a PUSHER. If you work with an e-file, use a gentle BABY BIT at very low speed to slightly lift the cuticle. Then carefully remove excess cuticle using CUTICLE SCISSORS or CUTICLE NIPPERS.
5. Apply NAIL PREP to the entire natural nail.
6. Prepare the GUMMY BASE in the desired shade. Wipe excess product from the brush on the bottle neck and apply a very thin layer to the entire nail, including the free edge. Make sure the product does not touch the cuticles. Cure in a UV/LED lamp (LED approx. 30 s, UV approx. 60 s).
7. Apply a second thin layer of GUMMY BASE, but do not cure it. This layer serves as a “slip layer” for the next, thicker reinforcing layer.
8. Pick up a larger amount of GUMMY BASE on the brush so that a bead forms on the flat side. Place it approximately 5 mm away from the cuticle, gently press and guide the product toward the cuticle, then smoothly pull it toward the free edge. The brush does not touch the nail.
The gel will self-level beautifully over the prepared slip layer. Do not forget to seal the free edge. Use a fine detail brush DRAWING No. 003 to perfect areas where the gel has not flowed. Turn the hand palm-up to allow the gel to self-level and create a natural reinforced shape. In this position, you can slightly refine the structure if needed. Turn the hand back and cure in the lamp (LED 60–90 s, UV 120 s).
9. Remove the inhibition layer using LINT-FREE WIPES soaked in CLEANSER.
10. If necessary, lightly refine the nail shape with a file or simply mattify the surface using the finer side of the INTENSE buffer. Remove all dust thoroughly.
11. Prepare the selected COLOR GEL POLISH. Wipe excess product from the brush so that the gel remains on one flat side of the brush. Place the brush approximately 5 mm from the cuticle and gently push the color toward the cuticle, working carefully to avoid flooding.
Apply the color gel polish in a thin layer over the entire nail plate. If needed, refine the cuticle and sidewall areas with the detail brush DRAWING No. 003, ensuring the product does not touch the skin. Cure in the lamp (LED 60–90 s, UV 120 s). If the shade requires it, apply a second thin layer and cure again.
12. Apply the final TOP COAT in a thin, even layer over the entire nail. Make sure the product does not run into the cuticles or sidewalls and always seal the free edge. Cure in the lamp (LED 60–90 s, UV 120 s).
13. For regeneration and nourishment, gently massage one of the NAIL CARE products into the area around the nail bed.
